the cow that laid an egg

I honestly think that I am still a child. I just reside in a grown up person.
There are many reasons I still feel like a child, but evidence of this is one of my latest purchases, of this children's book called 'the cow that laid an egg'. An excellent story, but my main reason for purchasing was because I love the illustrations. Russell Ayto illustrated this book, here are some of my fave pics:

i totally agree about children's picture books. the children's department of a book shop absolutely lethal to my wallet and consequently i have shelves full. my excuse is that i'm a primary school teacher, but it cunningly disguises a serious passion for books with that magic relationship between pictures and text. oh dear, i can feel a soap box moment comming on - i'll leave your comments space before i get into full flow!!

I too have children's books 'just because' ... and usually because of the illustrations. I've kept a whole load of books from when my kids were little - some because they loved the stories, but some because I loved the illustrations. John Burningham books are a favourite of mine - such beautiful illustrations.

I can understand that! I too have a large collection of children's books just because I love the illustrations.

Hello Monda, the pictures are fantastic!! No wonder you got this book:).
I think I am still a child myself, too:). It is a good thing, I guess...

I enjoy reading your blog. Have a good week:).

I love Russell Ayto's illustrations and now have to turn away from the shelves in Borders as my children are too old to justify buying them. Our fave was always 'Where's Tim's Ted' :-)
