A little non profit organisation called Little Hen Rescue in the UK are aiming to rehome 11,000 ex-battery hens by 29th June.If you can't rehome a hen, you can sponsor one, knit a jacket for one of the poor birds who has lost her feather due to stress, anxiety and ill treatment as a battery bird, or you could volunteer your time to rescue hens

Oh I heard about this on River Cottage I think - poor things...
Oh bless them! I'd take some in but I'm not sure my girls would take kindly to the idea - last thing those poor chickies need is bullying from my lot :(

Thank you also for linking the site for hen rescue organization. I have been wanting to knit jackets for them but never knew which charity organization did this sort of things. I have lots of soft wool stash so I am definitely doing this :D

ooohh....they look so sad. Ive always wanted a chicken for the garden. Do you think they will send me a rescue chicken? But...perhaps the stress of the long trip to South Africa will cause them more anxiety. Poor, poor things.
