faking it

I'm not a fan of artificial Christmas trees. One of things that conjures up a Chritsmassy vibe for me is the smell of a real tree. All my life, and Christmasses since I was born (33 in fact) I have had a real tree at Christmas time.
I recently read this article about trees, and now I'm even more convinced that a real tree is the right thing to choose. My tree doesn't go to waste after Christmas time. I get it collected for chipping in January.

You might wonder in this case why this year I have got an artificial Christmas tree. I'm not happy about it, really, I'm not, but the choice this year was artificial tree or no tree at all. This is really down to space - and not having any basically! which might have something to do with my lovely but rather large sofa which was purchased earlier this year. No tree was just too baa humbug for me, so we opted for one that looked as much like a real tree as possible - except for the fact that it is tall and slim of course. I have asked people who have been to the house what they think, but are they saying it looks real just to be polite? What do you think?Christmas is speeding here at a rate of knots. I still have presents to make and I'm rapidly running out of time - not to mention the wrapping of said presents. eeek.

I love your christmas tree.
We have a real one for the first time this year and I have to say, I didnt expect to have to hack it to near death to get it to fit in the living room ! lol

Can I just ask also, where do you get your woven labels from!! or do you create them yourself.

Chrimbo hugs x

I'd never have known, if you hadn't said, that it isn't a real tree. The 'branches' look just like a natural tree. It looks very pretty too.

I know what you mean about the days hurtling towards us waaaaay too fast! x

And never underestimate the wrapping hours required! We're a fairly frugal lot at Christmas, but it still took me most of the day to do them today.

And it's a very good fake tree, though I dislike that word. Just think of it as plastic fantastic.

real or not, it's a charming looking tree. Well, at least it looks real

I like it. We've gone fake this year as well, and I am sad about it, but the decision was driven by the cats, one of whom took flying leaps at the tree last year and spent too much time drinking the scummy water in the tree holder. There were needles everywhere and I was horribly worried about kitten electrocution while we weren't watching.

I have hardly bought any presents at all. I'll go shopping tomorrow...

I really wouldn't have known that your lovely tree wasn't real! I was almost envious that you managed to find such a tall slim real one!!!

I was wondering if it would be possible to postpone Christmas a week or so as I'm sure I'll never get everything done!!

That looks incredibly realistic - it must have been a tricky dilemma but the result is gorgeous- I'm a real tree girl myself. Ours is too big for our teeny dining room really but what the heck. Each decoration is a stunner by the looks of things. Magic!

You're tree does look very real! I need to get one that looks more realistic, mine is quite crappy. hubby complains about wanting a real one but I can't because they make me sneeze too much. may I ask where you picked yours up?

It looks lovely! We've ended up with a teeny, weeny, tiny, itsy, bitsy tree this year - partly because we left it late and didn't want to splurge on a bigger one (although I think this one probably cost just as much) and partly because we have also just got a new (albeit very, very secondhand) huge sofa and I didn't know what to do with the blanket box that had been moved into the bay window - putting a mini tree on it seems to have solved the problem!

Have a lovely Christmas

I'm with you on the real tree thing but I have to say for an artificial tree yours is very convincing! I would have thought it real if you hadn't told us. Hope you get everything done in time!

Looks real to me Monda - but I am short sighted, so I guess that helps. No, seriously, it looks fabulous and all your lovely decs make it look just right! Merry Christmas

Just discovered your blog this evening and just love it! I understand the real vs. faux tree dilemma. We opted for a small fake tree this year and I make sure to plug in some nice spruce air freshener so it seems partially like the real thing ;) Your artificial tree has a beautiful shape. Tall skinny trees make for more 'show' of the ornaments, I think!

it's a little tall and skinny, but I recently drove through a pine plantation..4 times in the last week actually, and they all looked tall and skinny. perhaps it is just that type of variety. you know the tall and skinny type. Quite prevalent here in Australia. enjoy the tree regardless of how it is made....it's what's underneath that counts!!! (He he)
